Dawn's Details: This was commissioned as an anniversary gift from husband to wife, which had special meaning to me & I loved the gesture. The piece is named "Mariko" because the woman's middle name is Mariko, the kimono she's wearing here is close to one she wore as a child, and the hair is also inspired by hers.
I hadn't worked with colored Copic Markers much before starting this piece, and from this point onwards, I've been hooked.
I was so involved in coloring this that I totally lost track of the time and missed my flight home from a convention. Now I know I need to set alarms whenever I'm drawing or I just get too involved in my own little art world that I will completely lose all concept of time.
P.S.: Prints are sold with gracious permission from the couple who commissioned the original piece.
